Deer Park Buddhist Pilgrimage - India 2013

mapenlarge map

Pilgrims from Deer Park met in India and traveled together to the eight major Buddhist pilgrimage sites from early to late January. The pilgrimage was led by Geshe Tenzin Dorjee and included sangha members from Deer Park, Sravasti Abbey in the state of Washington, and lay pilgrims from the U.S., Canada, France, India and Germany.

Geshe Tenzin Dorjee led meditations, pujas, recitations, long life prayers, and gave teachings during the journey, as well as clearly exemplifying how to be a pilgrim. Thank you Geshe-la! Also, thanks to Tendron-la for organizing the journey, to Ven. Yeshi Thinley for all his assistance throughout, to Drolma-la for helping with pujas and offerings, to Melanie for translating, and to Tsondru for all his help. Thanks to the rest of the pilgrims for your part in the journey.

This trip was enriched by the vivid presence of our teacher Geshe Sopa Rinpoche, who in spirit accompanied us as we followed the footsteps of the Buddha.
