Khensur Rinpoche

Deer Park is pleased to announce the following program of Sutra and Tantra
to be taught by
Gyume Khensur Rinpoche, Lobsang Tenzin

To be held in Deer Park’s New Temple!

Yamantaka (Solitary Hero) Initiation

Sat and Sun, June 16th and 17th Yamantaka Initiation,
2:00 pm.

Yamantaka is the wrathful aspect of Manjusri, the manifestation of the Buddha’s perfect wisdom. This practice belongs to the class of Highest Yoga Tantra (Annutara-yoga).

To receive the initiation it is recommended that the student has a strong foundation in the Graded Steps of the Path (Lam Rim) as well as a good understanding and appreciation of bodhicitta and of the concept of emptiness of inherent existence.

The commitment for taking the initiation, but not the commentary, is to recite the Six-session Guru Yoga daily for the rest of your life. If you also attend the commentary, you must, in addition, recite the long or short sadhana daily. The choice of long or short sadhana is yours. As part of the initiation one also takes the bodhicitta and tantric vows for life.

Teachings on the Graduated Stages of the Path (Lam Rim)

Sat. June 9th
1:30-3:30pm and 4:00-5:30pm
and Sun. June 10th
10:00- 12:00pm and 2:00-4:00pm

Mon. June 11th, Wed.13th, and Fri.15th
7-9pm

Khensur Rinpoche will also be teaching The Lines of Experience (lam rim dus don) by Je Tsongkapa. This is an abbreviated version of the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment.

All are welcome to attend.

Brief Biography of Khensur Rinpoche

Khensur Lobsang Tenzin Rinpoche, was awarded a Geshe Lharampa degree and later served as the abbot of Gyume Tantric College, relocated in Hunsur, India. He primarily resides in Sera Je Monastery in Bylakuppe, India where he teaches many students preparing for their Geshe degrees including young tulkus (recognized incarnations).

Because of Khensur Rinpoche’s renown as a great scholar in the systems of both Sutra and Tantra, he is called upon to teach in many places in North America, Europe, and Asia. Khensur Rinpoche teaches annually at Deer Park and maintains a close relationship with Geshe Sopa, who is one of Khensur Rinpoche’s teachers. Aware of Khensur Rinpoche’s profound qualities, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has requested that Khensur Rinpoche maintain his permanent residence at Sera Monastery to serve as one of the principal teachers to help bring forth the new generation of scholar-practitioners. We are extremely fortunate to have Khensur Rinpoche confer the Yamantaka initiation and commentary as well as Je Tsong Khapa writings on the Graduated Stages of the Path.
